Nearing 40? Here are 4 Beauty Treatments You should be doing!

beauty routine denver co | Fante Eye and Face Centre Ah, the process of aging. It is not something from which we can be liberated. We will all start to notice certain concerns, no matter how fortunate we were in the gene lottery. As we have watched closely how the signs of aging occur, and the timing of them, we have learned one thing: we need to take control. The sooner, the better. If you have yet to master a beauty routine, consider these 4 treatments you may want to implement.

  1. Develop a daily skin care regimen. This sounds easy, but it takes some work. The best way to find the products that will work for you is to know what your skin needs. Also, you must realize that what your skin needs today may not be what it needs a year from now. A consultation at ReDerm MD Medical Spa, associated with our Denver facial plastic surgery office, can lead you in the right direction.
  2. You have heard of Botox, and maybe you’ve even thought about getting your frown lines treated, but something has stopped you. Don’t be afraid to branch out into the land of injectables. Botox has been used safely around the world for well over a decade. The strategic use of this drug will ease wrinkles without making you look frozen. Treatment is fast and virtually painless and beautifully refreshes your face. Results last only 3 to 6 months, so you have little risk and a lot to gain.
  3. The other powerhouse treatment that is common in men and women from their twenties on up is dermal fillers. As you reach the age of 40 and beyond, fillers can be used for everything from lip plumping to smooth out lines around the mouth to the treatment of under eye bags. If you fear that you will not like the way you look, ask about hyaluronic acid products. If necessary for any reason, this treatment can be reversed.
  4. Laser treatments are excellent for everything from hair removal to skin resurfacing. BBL or broad-band light treatments have been shown to directly slow the aging process in the skin, and a laser is even used to treat visible veins on the face, legs, or another area.

As we age, there will be signs. This is ok, but you want to know how to manage your appearance when the time comes. To explore your options, call Fante Eye & Face Centre at (303) 839-1616.

Is Botox the Answer to Blepharospasm?

Blepharospasm Denver, CO Twitching eyelids sound like an awful problem to have. Unless you are affected by blepharospasm, you may envision this condition as a mild twitch now and again, like you may have experienced during a time of fatigue. This isn’t the entire picture. Some people whose eyes twitch due to muscle spasms are stopped in their tracks – for hours on end. Not only unpleasant but downright frightening. If twitching eyelids, closure or even a downward-pulled brow are concerns that you face, consider what may help you get back into the game of life.

A Problem without Proper Cause

In some cases, blepharospasm can be attributed to a health condition, such as Tourette’s syndrome or even something as simple as dry eyes. However, the majority of cases point to no proper cause. We simply do not know what causes the muscles to fire unexpectedly. Primary blepharospasm cannot be cured, but it can be treated. Finding suitable treatment is necessary to improve the quality of life, and we are here to help you.

There may be a few different ways to manage blepharospasm. As we have discussed, it may be possible to minimize eye twitching by identifying and avoiding triggers, such as caffeine. Stress reduction is another common recommendation that doctors make for patients with incessant twitching of the eyelid. However, stress management can take time and practice. For that reason, specific medical treatment may occur simultaneously to that. Medical treatment for blepharospasm may include:

  • Botox. This injectable muscle relaxing solution is not just a cosmetic miracle; it is also a valuable therapeutic tool for the treatment of muscular disorders such as blepharospasm. Botox is successful in approximately 90% of cases. Treatment takes only a few minutes and causes minimal side effects only. These may include temporary double-vision or blurriness, drooping of the eyelid, and dry eyes. Soothing eye drops can minimize this side-effect.
  • If Botox does not produce the desired outcome, oral medication may be the second-line treatment for blepharospasm. Medications such as Valium or Artane have been prescribed by physicians to minimize twitching, but with varying degrees of success.
  • When non-surgical treatments do not reach the objective of soothing eye-twitching (this is rare), surgery may be performed to modify or remove the muscles that are responsible for blepharospasm.

Dr. Fante has a great deal of experience treating blepharospasm with Botox injections. To learn more about this condition and potential treatments, call (303) 839-1616.

Get the Facts about Microneedling

Microneedling denver co | Fante Eye and Face Centre In recent years, we have seen some non-surgical facial treatments become available. Some of them employ high-tech devices, such as radio waves or laser energy. Some, like microneedling, encourage collagen production through technique alone. With so many choices, patients need to know the real details of their treatment options. Let’s dive in to how microneedling works and what it can do for you.

The Two Methods of Treatment

Microneedling may be performed at home. Maybe you’ve seen those small, hand-held rollers with tiny points. This method of care is inexpensive, but it may also limit your results. Professional care is also affordable, and it lets you sit back and relax. Also, the products that are applied to your skin after an in-office treatment are professional-grade, which means they get better results.

The issue of Comfort

Whether you roll at home or you let our experienced clinicians treat your skin, there is no denying that microneedling can be uncomfortable. We wouldn’t say that the process is all-out painful, but we will say that, because we want you to enjoy the care we give you, a topical anesthetic may be applied to your skin before microneedling.

Holes in your Skin?

Some people assume that microneedling will make their skin red and marked with tiny spots. This is not what happens. In fact, most people are red only for an hour or so. And that redness is not enough to send them into hiding. What the skin looks like post-microneedling is flushed or pink. Immediately after treatment, bleeding may be noticeable, but the punctures made to the surface are so fine that they close within a few minutes and start the healing process.

It is the healing process that we are after when we treat the skin using the SkinPen® by Bellus Medical. You see, healing means collagen, and it is collagen that supports firm, supple skin. Collagen Induction Therapies like microneedling are safe and effective for all skin types, and may even treat areas around the eyes and lips. Whether used to prevent the onset of age-related cosmetic concerns or to reverse those that have started, microneedling is a path to perfect skin.
