I was born in a small, segregated community in Houston, Texas. Life for me was always black and white until I went into middle school and I was one out of five black kids in the Albert Thomas Junior High. Learning and living in a community that was transitioning was stifling, and I knew that I had to get out of the bubble. That lead me to enlist in the military and travel to Okinawa, Japan where I served as a medic long enough to raise my son. Living in Japan gave me the chance to breathe deeply and examine myself and the world in a whole new way. I felt as if I finally fit in, as I realized the bubble had been popped. During that time I was introduced to Japanese skin treatments that inspired my love for cosmetology, and would eventually lead me to become a medical esthetician. I’ve been with Dr. Fante for over eight years now, and it is a freeing feeling to be part of a team that loves you for who you are and encourages you to bring your passion to the job each day.
I was born and raised in Kazakhstan, and knew from the age of 13 that I wanted to spend my life caring for people and animals. I am the child of a family of engineers and it was my father who talked only of practicality and discouraged anything else, so I dutifully went to school and received my Master’s Degree in Transportation Engineering. But now I know that a dream isn’t easily forgotten.
Fifteen years ago, I arrived in the U.S. unable to speak English but was quickly able to find work as a cosmetics manager in a chic department store. I was energized by my introduction to the world of beauty! I reignited my passion for helping others and became a licensed medical esthetician. I love to volunteer in the community and to be active outdoors with my son in beautiful Colorado. Everything I dreamt of is here at ReDerm MD Medical Spa: the patients, the environment and the opportunity to give my best to others through the services we offer.
Catherine is a huge football lover and an Ultimate Fan for the Denver Broncos. She is a proud member of the Pro Football Ultimate Fan Association that serves her Denver community in many charitable ways. She is an avid runner, and captain of an adult charity kickball team. She moved from Texas in 1993 where she was born and raised, and she has 3 grown children.
Sometimes my kids complain about how there isn’t enough room in the house for my books. This is amusing since I could just as easily complain about their shoes or footballs! But there is something about sitting down and reading a good book that fills me up and makes me feel good. I love reading, and I especially love to become connected with characters, to learn about their backgrounds, and to empathize with their needs. I collect books because each book makes me look at the world in a different way, and I treasure both my broadened perspective and the story itself. Recently I have finally connected my love of reading to one of the reasons I continue to enjoy my job so much, over the 14 years that I’ve been working with Dr. Fante. I love hearing the stories of our patients and then being part of making their stories become better. For this, and for the chance to work on such a terrific team, I am grateful.
Being born in Texas, raised in Michigan, and rooted in a deep Chinese heritage that my parents brought over as immigrants, I’ve always been searching for what defines me. I discovered that I find the most comfort and understanding through the small moments of life; whether it’s hammocking under the stars in Michigan’s U.P., sharing a moon cake during the Mid-Autumn Festival, or just finally taking the time to clean out my car. As a newcomer to Colorado, you can find me on the weekends volunteering to walk dogs or trying out a new cookie recipe. On weekdays I’m very excited to be a part of such a warm and welcoming team here at Fante Eye & Face Centre where I look forward to meeting you and all the small moments that may follow.
Music is what fuses my family together. From our birthplace in Jamaica to America’s Rocky Mountains, we have always traveled in song. Singing and dancing along to everything from show tunes to Marvin Gaye to Beyonce are part of our repertoire we know and love. It doesn’t matter if we are in the grocery store or here with Dr. Fante, my sisters and I will belt out a tune (or at least a little hum). I believe that music is just good for the soul, as it is the one thing that not only centers you, but can bring you into a great state of mind. There are many things that I love about this office, but one thing that has kept me here for over 16 years is the fact that everyone has their own song, and they are encouraged to sing it loud and proud. Is our combined song slightly noisy at times? Yes, and things can get hectic, but I thrive because we always get back to the rhythm.
I’m a Denver native who loves all that Colorado has to offer and while Colorado is in my blood, travel is in my heart. When I was in high school, we hosted an exchange student from Brazil. The experience of hosting an exchange student opened my eyes, broadened my horizons, and kindled a passion for travel. In previous job positions, I learned that I have an affinity for and enjoy engaging with and helping patients by answering their questions and easing their fears. I am thrilled to apply those skills and expand my knowledge base into a new field, alongside a fantastic and supportive team.

I am a Nursing graduate who loves anything and everything Artistic. I began working in the healthcare industry in 2012 while still being involved with the Art world in Denver. I find different ways to immerse myself and continue to be passionate about the people around me, and the ways I can create. I love to paint, take pictures, and design, whether it’s with a group of people or by myself. As the middle child, I am the only girl out of 3 children. I have a very cultural background and a big family to teach me, that is what has made me into the person I am today. I am looking forward to meeting you and sharing a smile with you. With a smile and a great attitude anything is possible.
It was Benny who made me look forward to Mondays. The first time he said, “Waddup, Jess” was in 2013 when I met him at a running group called Achilles International that pairs individuals with disabilities with running guides. Three years later, we are still running around Denver together. The way he throws his hands up in the air at the finish and says with a grin, “We really did it Jess,” has made me more appreciative of the small victories in life. I also enjoy serving on the board of a local non-profit called LIM359, an activities based-support group for people with limb loss and limb difference. When I’m not busy in Denver, I’m likely visiting family in the south or seeing a new country! Here at Dr. Fante’s office, our team also supports a range of Denver charities because we all believe it’s important to do what we can in making life better for others.
My son’s feet barely dangled over the airplane seat when we traveled to Israel for the first time. Even though he was only five and this was our first time traveling overseas together, I wasn’t nervous. It was time to go back to our roots. I am originally from Babruysk, Russia which is now Belarus. As a child I was raised in the Jewish faith, and my parents would always tell me stories of the Wailing Wall, a holy monument in Jerusalem. When we finally arrived in the city I felt such a radical experience. Everyone of different ages, backgrounds, and faiths had traveled to the Wall — all in awe of the history and the importance of the monument. It was if I was home, but I had never been there before.
I was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area and moved to Denver as a young adult. Although I miss seeing the ocean I really love the mountains, the colors and the seasons, especially Fall. I enjoy exploring Colorado or staying at home working in my own garden. I raised 3 wonderful children in Colorado and have an adorable grandson who keeps me very busy. Exploring takes on a whole new meaning when you share things with a grandchild. I came to work at Fante Eye & Face Centre after 35 years in the legal field and 9 months of retirement! I’m enjoying the new challenges, learning and working in the medical field, as well as working with such great people.
