Facial fillers, also called dermal fillers, are injectable treatments that can restore lost volume, soften lines and creases, enhance lip shape, and improve facial contours without surgery. Because fillers can be used in areas such as the lips, cheeks, under-eyes, and the folds around the mouth, they offer a versatile option for patients seeking natural-looking facial rejuvenation with minimal downtime.
At Fante Eye & Face Center, patients from Denver, Greenwood Village, and surrounding Colorado communities receive filler treatments from a team with specialized facial anatomy expertise. Dr. Robert Fante is double board-certified and has extensive experience in facial cosmetic surgery, while both Dr. Levitt and Dr. Huang are ASOPRS-trained surgeons and ASOPRS Candidate Members. This background helps the team recommend filler treatments with careful attention to balance, safety, and natural facial expression.
What Are Facial Fillers?
Facial fillers, also known as dermal fillers, are most commonly composed of hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance already present in your body in your cells, joints, and other tissues. Hyaluronic acid is non-inflammatory, which makes it effective in treating scars and is a favorite for lip augmentation. It can be used to either accentuate a more beautiful shape or to add plumpness.
The team at Fante Eye & Face Center uses several different brands of injectable fillers for different kinds of facial enhancements. During your consultation, our team will advise you on which injectable filler may be the best choice for your face. Enhancements range from helping with more beautiful lips to softening wrinkles and creases, and even improving the shape of your cheekbones.
Fillers Offered at Fante Eye & Face Center
Juvéderm®
Juvéderm® is a “next generation” smooth gel, non-animal dermal filler offering a natural look/feel and long-lasting results – six months or longer. Juvéderm® dermal filler is so long-lasting because it’s the dermal filler currently available with the highest concentration of hyaluronic acid. In addition, a special formulation process creates a smooth gel that flows easily into the skin, reliably delivering a natural, smooth appearance. It comes in different formulations: Ultra XC, Ultra Plus XC, Voluma XC, Vollure and Volbella. We can help you decide which one(s) are right for you. People love them.
Restylane
Restylane is another brand of non-animal hyaluronic acid, and, like the others we use, is biocompatible with our human hyaluronic acid. This family of fillers flows easily into the skin to create a smooth, natural appearance. Restylane fillers fight against wrinkles by adding volume to the tissue. Hyaluronic acid exists naturally in humans and all animals, which makes allergic reactions rare. Restylane is also useful around the eyes to reduce signs of aging, especially in the tear trough area, where dark circles first appear.
The FDA has approved Restylane for plumping out wrinkles around the nose and mouth areas and also for lip enhancement.
What Can I Expect During Facial Filler Treatment?
-
Avoid using aspirin or Vitamin E, as they can increase bruising
-
We will offer you a topical local anesthetic
-
Very small amounts of the designated filler are injected into several locations with a very fine needle
Treatment can take anywhere from 15 to 30 minutes.
How Are Dermal Fillers Different Than Botox?
Dermal fillers such as Juvéderm® fill wrinkles from beneath. Botox® is classified as a neuromodulator. When injected into a muscle, these injectables temporarily paralyze the muscle, keeping it from contracting. Certain wrinkles, particularly in the upper third of the face (think crow’s feet, forehead lines, and the 11s), are caused by muscles contracting beneath the skin when we make expressions such as frowning. Botox® stops these muscles from contracting, so the wrinkles don’t form. Botox® only works on these types of wrinkles; they are called dynamic wrinkles. Juvéderm® and other fillers don’t work on dynamic wrinkles; their domain is the static wrinkle, wrinkles that show themselves at all times.
Can I Have Botox and Facial Fillers on the Same Day?
Yes, many patients have both Botox and filler at the same appointment. It is no problem! Patients may want to ask for a topical anesthetic when they check in to make treatment as comfortable as possible.

Facial Filler Results
You’ll be able to see the results almost right away.
-
There may be a small amount of swelling or redness that will disappear within 1 to 3 days. Bruising infrequently occurs and resolves within a week
-
You will see a fresh plumpness in the area, giving you a more youthful look
Results last anywhere from 6 months to a year. Voluma XC is a special case that can last up to 2-3 years.
Are There Risks With Facial Fillers?
Facial fillers are generally well tolerated, but side effects are possible. Temporary swelling, redness, tenderness, bruising, or mild asymmetry can occur after treatment and usually improves as the filler settles.
More serious complications are uncommon, but they can occur with any injectable treatment. Choosing a team with strong knowledge of facial anatomy is important, especially when treating delicate areas such as the lips, under-eyes, cheeks, and the folds around the mouth. Our team will review the potential risks and aftercare instructions before your treatment.
Am I a Good Candidate for Facial Fillers?
You may be a good candidate for facial fillers if you want to restore lost facial volume, soften lines or creases, enhance the lips, or improve facial contours without surgery. Ideal candidates are generally in good health, have realistic expectations, and want improvement in areas such as the lips, cheeks, tear troughs, or folds around the mouth.
Fillers may not be the best choice for every concern. During your consultation, our team can determine whether dermal fillers, Botox®, fat transfer, skin resurfacing, or another treatment is a better fit for your goals.
Frequently Asked Questions
The amount depends on the treatment area, degree of volume loss, facial anatomy, and desired outcome. The team at Fante Eye & Face Center uses an individualized approach and may recommend gradual treatment to maintain natural-looking proportions.
In many cases, hyaluronic acid fillers can be dissolved with an injectable enzyme if adjustment or removal is needed. Whether this is appropriate depends on the filler used, the treatment area, and the reason for dissolving it.
Patients are generally advised to avoid strenuous exercise for approximately 24 hours because increased circulation may worsen swelling or bruising. Your provider will give you specific aftercare instructions based on the areas treated.
Why Choose Fante Eye & Face Center for Facial Fillers?
Facial filler treatment is both technical and artistic. The right approach depends on facial anatomy, skin quality, volume loss, expression, and the specific areas being treated. At Fante Eye & Face Center, our team evaluates each patient’s features carefully before recommending a filler type, amount, and placement strategy.
Because the practice specializes in cosmetic and functional facial care, patients benefit from a detailed understanding of the eyelids, cheeks, lips, and surrounding facial structures. This is especially important for delicate areas such as the under-eyes, lips, and midface, where precision helps create smoother, more natural-looking results.
Our team can also help you understand when fillers may be appropriate and when another option, such as Botox®, fat transfer, skin resurfacing, or surgery, may better match your goals.
