Does a micro laser peel reduce wrinkles?

A micro laser peel will tighten the skin somewhat, which will smooth out some fine lines. But it isn’t a substitute for a face lift.

Will a micro laser peel remove sun damage?

Yes, it removes the surface layer of skin, which stimulates the layer beneath to produce new skin cells. Your skin will look younger and healthier afterwards.

How does a micro laser peel compare to microdermabrasion?

It’s an in-between step, as far as depth of treatment is concerned. A Microdermabrasion penetrates the skin only to a depth of 10-15 microns, whereas a micro laser peel penetrates to a depth of 20-50 microns.

If you wanted a deeper treatment still, you could choose laser skin resurfacing, which penetrates to a depth of 50-100 microns.

Would I be a good candidate for a micro laser peel?

Probably, if you’re over 18 and are looking for a good, noticeable result but don’t want to take time off work. Dr. Fante and his staff will examine your skin and discuss the possibilities with you, so you can choose the most satisfactory course of action.

Is a micro laser peel painful?

It causes a mild pinching or burning sensation, but we will use a topical anesthetic and a cooling mechanism if you’d prefer that. We all have different pain thresholds, so perception of pain is an individual thing.

What’s the recovery time like?

At first it will feel like a mild sunburn. There’ll be some itching and some skin will flake off. You can use an ointment for a few days to protect you skin while it heals itself.

After a few days the redness will fade and you can use makeup. If you have it done near a weekend, you can just take off a long weekend from work.

Is there anything I should do to prepare for the treatment?

The best thing to do would be avoid sun exposure. Also avoid any tanning procedures or products. And as always, use a sunscreen whenever you’re outdoors. We will discuss further pre-procedure care with you after we’ve examined your skin.
