The use of lasers has expanded enormously in recent years, and one of their invaluable uses is for repairing human tissue.

There are many kinds of lasers, all man-made, and all made for a specific purpose. Some particular features distinguish a laser light from other lights such as incandescent bulbs or neon lights:

Laser beams are

  • Directional – they focus precisely, as opposed to flashlights, for instance, which send their light rays out in many directions.
  • Coherent – the particles in the light are organized, and they move in step with each other.
  • Monochromatic – only one color is contained in the laser beam, as opposed to white light, which contains all colors. Lasers can even be in color ranges invisible to our eyes, such as ultraviolet (above the violet vibration) and infrared (below the red vibration).

Lasers come in many strengths, and only some are appropriate for use on human tissue.
